Our shelves are full and we are so appreciative of the hard work and generous donations from our neighbors in Langdon.

In the unlikely event you have not heard about the devastating wild fire in Fort McMurray Alberta Canada, please take 3 minutes to watch this summary of the events of May 3 to 6, 2016.
The town has been devastated in what is Canada’s largest and most expensive disaster. This happened so quickly most of these people never had a chance to take their belongings. Below are the raw numbers… so far:
about 2000 buildings (mostly houses) have burned to the ground
100,000 people have been evacuated
most, if not all, remaining buildings will have smoke damage
more than 10,000 people will likely not be able to return for months
The Alberta Government is matching contributions to the Canadian Red Cross and so is the Canadian Federal Government. This means if you donate $100, it will become $300. Many other organizations are matching funds and then donating them to the Red Cross, which means you $100 donation could be doubled by (for instance) Safeway to $200, and the Province and the Feds will match making that donations turning it into $600.
We are trying to get our garden started and we are looking for someone who has a rototiller. If you have a rototiller that you could lend to the food bank, we have volunteers who would love to get our garden going. Please call the food bank at 403 273-0777. Thanks.
We can now take perishables and are presently getting yogurt and eggs from the Calgary Food Bank. If you have egg cartons, we could use them as our eggs come in large flats, Please drop them off at the Food Bank or at the any donation bin in the city.
We are holding a meeting this Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 am at the Waiting Room Cafe for anyone specifically interested in the following roles for our upcoming Anniversary celebration:
– Set up & take down
– Signs & posters
– Service to bands, etc.
– Food & Beverage
– Cash, raffle & auctions
– Media, MC
These positions require supervising the specific area throughout the entire event & may require some time prior to the event as well. We have all the plans in place, however, we will not be able to successfully manage every area by ourselves & we truly will need the help.
The remaining volunteer opportunities for the event itself, will be made available around the end of April however you are welcome to join us for the meeting on Saturday.
